Our skin seems to have a mind of its own, along with a rebellious spirit. When we need our skin to cooperate with us, it just up and decides to do the complete opposite. I’m sure we have all been getting ready for a special event or a big date, only to find a giant zit on our forehead!
Thankfully, we have a powerful weapon of different foundations to help make it behave. Foundation can conceal, illuminate and smooth out even the worst skin types. But we are all aware that the only thing worse than a massive zit on your forehead is badly applied foundation.
Foundation is the canvas for the rest of our makeup, so we will show you in this article how to correctly apply foundation makeup like a professional, my favorite is dermacol foundation. No matter what type of foundation you prefer to use, make sure to follow these steps for flawless, yet naturally looking skin:
Step 1: Remove all makeup and cleanse, apply toner and moisturize. This step cannot be skipped; otherwise your foundation will look uneven when applied. Always wash your face with a gentle cleanser of your choice, apply toner with a cotton pad and then moisturize.
Step 2: Just as with painting, there are many different types of mediums. There are liquid, cream, gel, loose powder and pressed powder foundations. Choose the type of foundation that suits your skin type.
- Liquid: Full matte coverage and suitable for all skin types.
- Cream: Full coverage and suitable for mature and acne-prone skin.
- Gel: Provides light to medium coverage and suitable for all skin types, especially dry skin
- Loose powder: Light to medium coverage and suitable for oily/combination skin
- Pressed powder: Medium to full coverage and suitable for oily/combination skin
Step 3: Once you have selected the best foundation for your skin type, it is time to apply foundation makeup with a foundation brush. Start at the center of your face and blend it out.
Step 4: Using a slightly damp beauty sponge, using a rolling motion blend the foundation into the skin by pressing it against the skin.
Step 5: Conceal any blemishes and redness by applying concealer to those areas. Lightly tap the concealer on, over the foundation. Avoid rubbing it in, as it would just remove the foundation. Many professional makeup artists suggest using the tip of your fingertip, as the warmth of the hand helps to blend it in.
Step 6: In order to set the foundation, apply a translucent powder. Using a soft brush, gently tap or brush off any excess makeup. Then brush the setting powder over your face, giving extra attention to areas that tend to be shiny, such as in between the eyebrows, around the nose and on the chin. Makeup artists warn to be careful not to over apply.
Step 7: That’s it folks! By following these simple instructions, you will look like a professional make-up artist.
As you can see, it is easy to apply foundation makeup like a professional. Just make sure you choose the foundation color or shade that matched your skin tone.
