1. Eat smart

What you eat really does matter, especially when it comes to your hair. Genetics might have an important role in what type of hair you have such as curly, straight or frizzy. Your diet controls the quality of your hair, if you want your hair to grow in thicker and faster, then follow a diet rich in Omega 3’s. Make sure your daily diet contains salmon, avocados, nuts, fresh veggies and fruits.

2. Use a good quality shampoo and conditioner

Make sure you are using the right shampoo and conditioner for your hair type. As they have been specifically designed help your hair, for example fine hair needs a shampoo and conditioner to build volume, fake thickness and add shine. But coarse hair needs frizz tamers and extra moisture.

3. Avoid over washing

Too much of anything can be a bad thing. Hair stylists say the number one mistake their celebrity clients make, time after time, is over-washing their hair. By over-washing your hair, you strip it of its’ natural oils, which makes your hair have a healthy glow and thickness. If you have oily hair, try regularly brushing your hair to redistribute the oils.

4. Care for your scalp

Your scalp isn’t just another layer of skin, but has everything your hair needs to stay healthy. If you don’t wash your hair at least every two to three days or it is exposed regularly to harsh chemicals, it can stunt your hair growth. Keeping your scalp moisturized is just as important as keeping your face hydrated. When you wash your hair, give it an invigorating massage so the shampoo stimulates blood circulation.

5. Take your vitamins

Often we are deficient in many vitamins and nutrients that are necessary in growing healthy hair and follicle function. Look for supplements that are designed to keep your hair healthy and are high in Omega 3, pumpkin seed extracts and keratin. But don’t expect results over night, it will take 3 to 6 months to see your new and improved hair growth.

6. Avoid heat

Breaking up with your hair dryer or flat iron might seem impossible, but if you want healthier hair, it is a necessary evil. If you must use them, use only on the lowest heat setting and always apply a heat protectant spray before using.

7. Brush your hair

Believe it or not, but regularly brushing your hair can make your hair thicker and grow faster, as it will exfoliate your scalp and remove dead hair. Just don’t use a plastic bristled brush as that will harm your hair and make it frizzy. Instead use a wide bristled brush made from natural fibers such as from a boar.
